About Carrie Watson
As an experienced employability consultant and coach, I am passionate about empowering young people to launch and grow their careers. With over a decade of expertise, I provide tailored support throughout the job search journey, delivering practical strategies and confidence-boosting guidance.
My mission is to help clients unlock their potential, navigate challenges, and secure meaningful roles that align with their ambitions.
Academic & Early Career Foundations
My Business Studies degree, including an industrial placement year, underscored the value of experiential learning in complementing academics to drive career success. Through work experience, I gained insight into transferable skills and their role in employability, often leading to graduate opportunities.
Beyond formal settings, I also focused on identifying skills developed through non-traditional avenues to further enhance career readiness.
Professional Experience & Career Development
After beginning my career at Goldman Sachs, I transitioned into financial PR before taking time off to raise our three children. I returned to the workforce in 2014 as a schools Careers Assistant, organizing events and supporting higher education and university applications. In 2020, I joined Bournemouth University’s Business School placement team, assisting Business, Management, and Marketing students through the challenges of the Covid pandemic.
A year later, I moved to the University of Bath placements team in Social Sciences, supporting students across disciplines like Politics, Economics, and Sociology. I gained experience in diverse sectors—private, public, and third—coaching students on career development and gaining valuable labour market insights through workplace visits.
Advanced Education & Broader Insights
To deepen my expertise, I have pursued a Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Career Education, Information, and Guidance at the University of Warwick. This programme has enriched my understanding of career development theories and challenges in higher education. My recent studies focus on the impact of AI in recruitment, supporting international students, and bridging the gap between student expectations and workplace realities.
Alongside my professional roles, I have helped friends’ children secure positions across diverse sectors like engineering, sports marketing, and design, further broadening my perspective on career pathways and opportunities.
